Tripura: Congress, BJP Supporters Clash In Majlishpur After Election Dates Announced

The state became heated as soon as the election was announced on Wednesday.
Congress All India General Secretary Dr. Ajay Kumar was injured in the Congress-BJP clash.
When the procession was taken to Majlishpur Assembly constituency, the situation got heated there.

MLA of that area and State Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury alleged that outsider Congress miscreants came to occupy the area and faced resistance.

However, the Congress denied the allegations.
Congress alleged that BJP workers attacked the procession.

BJP booth office was vandalized in Majlishpur area. A large police presence at the scene.
It may be mentioned that the Tripura Assembly elections will be held on February 16 and counting of votes is on 2nd March.

On this day, the political parties held marches and counter-marches at different places.
All the parties welcomed the election announcement day.

This time Congress has allied with CPIM in Tripura, while Maharaja’s party TIPRA Motha decided to contest alone.

Therefore, there may be a three-way fight in this assembly election. The Election Commission has expressed satisfaction with the law and order situation in Tripura.
