Tripura’s Drinking Water and Sanitation Minister Sushanta Chowdhury met Union Water Resources Minister Gajendra Singh Shekwat on Tuesday in New Delhi.

Chowdhury briefed the status of Jal Jeevan Mission in Tripura during interactions with the union minister.

He highlighted that the Tripura government has already achieved more than 53% target under Jal Jeevan Mission.

Free water connections have so far been provided to 3,66,233 households (49.36%) under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

On August 28, Chowdhury told the media that total 3,90,735 (52.66%) households have been covered by water connections till now.

Meanwhile, Chowdhury also holds the Sports Ministry.

He met two central ministers on Monday and sought support for the development of sports infrastructure in Tripura.
