Based on the assessment so far of the post-flood situation, the damage to the forest department in the recent floods is 15-20 crore. However, it is still not possible to assess the overall damage of the forest department in some marginal areas of the state.
Forest Department Minister Animesh Debbarma announced this news at a press conference at the Secretariat today.
He said that the infrastructure of the state forest department, especially check dam, shal, teak, rubber, agro-forestry, has been severely damaged due to recent floods.
Moreover, the vocational training center, range office building, boundary wall, fencing of sanctuaries etc. in the JFMC area have caused extensive damage to forest resources. The forest minister also said that 450-470 check dams in the state have completely broken in the flood.
