Former IPFT president and Asharambari MLA Mevar Kumar Jamatia has resigned as a legislator on Tuesday.
The ally of the BJP, Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) has suffered a major blow ahead of the 2023 assembly elections.
Senior member of the IPFT, Jamatia submitted his resignation to the Speaker of Tripura Legislative Assembly, Ratan Chakraborty on Tuesday.
Ex-Tripura minister Mevar Kumar Jamatia is likely to join TIPRA Motha.
The strength of IPFT in the Tripura assembly has reduced to just 5 with the resignation of Mevar Kumar Jamatia as MLA.
BJP leader Burba Mohan Tripura also resigned as MLA and joined TIPRA in September.
Earlier, IPFT leader Dhananjay Tripura also resigned as MLA and joined TIPRA.
