Agartala, July 21: Amid growing concern over illegal immigration, the West Tripura district administration has constituted a special task force to identify and deport undocumented Bangladeshi nationals. The task force will actively monitor infiltration along Tripura’s international border with Bangladesh, which stretches for 856 kilometers.
Government sources informed that Tripura has one of the highest arrest rates in the country for illegal infiltration cases. In response to this, the newly formed team will consist of the officers in charge of all 15 police stations within the West Tripura district.
The state government has assured all stakeholders that the task force will operate within legal frameworks while prioritizing the protection of indigenous interests.
