Doctors in the state wherever they are serving their duties need to make the public aware of the public welfare work of the government as well. This will make it possible to provide proper service to the people. There will be real improvement among people too, enunciated Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb after inaugurating the 52th All Tripura Medical Conference organised by Indian Medical Association, Tripura Division at Rabindra Bhavan yesterday.
He said, Tripura is no longer a backwarded state. In all areas of health, education, infrastructure etc., Tripura is now advancing with all the developed states of India. Tripura is now one of the fastest growing small states in India.
The Chief Minister said, people are now able to avail the services of experienced doctors as well as state-of-the-art medical services at GB Hospital. The number of referral cases is also getting much lesser. People are regaining confidence in the state’s medical system. In this context, he mentioned about the recently successful first Open-Heart Surgery in the state at GB Hospital which was done through completely free of cost through Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat card.
This is a milestone in the history of medical services in the state. Difficult and complex surgeries like Angioplasty. Bypass, Neuro surgeries are now possible at GB Hospital. Doctors and health workers are constantly striving to bring health services to the doorsteps of the people.
He said, now people living in remote areas of the state are also able to avail health services of the government. In this context, he said, Gandatwisa hospital has been turned into a 50-bedded hospital. 3 specialist doctors have been posted in a far-flung area like Gandatwisa.
The Chief Minister said, for the first time in Tripura, the current state. government has presented a huge budget of 26,893 crore rupees. This year the government has brought forward gender budget thinking about women. With a view to women’s empowerment, the budget provides 33% reservation for women in the workplace. Women will now be able to save in proportion to their gender in education. The budget provides for health insurance for government employees.
He said, this year’s budget has been increased by 19% compared to last year. The present state government has outlined what the government will do in the next 25 years. The Chief Minister while highlighting the various developmental works of the present government, highlighted the construction of Maitri Setu at Sabroom, the construction of a Special Economic Zone at Sabroom, and the construction of an Integrated Checkpost.
He said. Sabroom is now becoming an industrial city. At present there are direct flights from Agartala to Delhi. Communication with Tripura is being expanded across the country by air, rail and road. Tripura today is fully integrated with every state in the country. The present government is also committed to the development of national roads.
The national highway from Churaibari to Agartala is being improved. About 40 Kilometers of road is being reduced. In the future, it will be possible to come from Churaibari to Agartala in a very short time.
The present government of the state is also expanding the waterways of the state. In this context, the Chief Minister also mentioned the connection of Tripura with Chittagong Port.
