On Wednesday, main opposition CPIM announced the candidate for 43 seats and kept 13 seats reserved for Congress.
While addressing a press conference, Left Front Convener Narayan Kar said, “We came under the same banner to oust BJP from power and throw the party from the state. We have appealed to all the secular and anti-BJP democratic forces to come together in a move to oust the party”.
Kar added that several veteran leaders of CPIM like Bhanu Lal Saha, former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, Badal Chowdhury, Sahid Chowdhury, Tapan Chakraborty, Mabasar Ali and Jashbir Tripura relieved this time.
Kar further said that the party has introduced 24 fresh faces in this election who will contest for the first time.
Further, CPI will contest in 1 seat, Forward Bloc in 1, RSP in 1 and 1 candidate will contest as an independent candidate.
CPIM state committee secretary will contest from the 40-Sabroom Constituency
Notably, Kousik Chanda will contest from the Dhanpur constituency, which was the home assembly constituency of former CM Manik Sarkar.
