Agartala, May 29: The Tripura government has issued a weather advisory to all District Magistrates, directing them to activate emergency services and remain on high alert as the state braces for extremely heavy rainfall over the next few days.
According to a Special Weather Bulletin from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Tripura is expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall, with isolated pockets of extremely heavy showers accompanied by squally and gusty winds, between May 28 and May 31.
The adverse weather conditions are attributed to a low-pressure system that has formed over the Northwest Bay of Bengal, near the Odisha coast.
In response, the state administration has urged all district authorities to closely monitor the situation, coordinate with disaster response teams including the NDRF, SDRF, TSR, Fire and Emergency Services, and trained volunteers. Authorities have been asked to identify vulnerable areas and remain prepared for swift action if necessary.
