TU holds mass tree plantation drive, Registrar appeals to plant more trees in the vicinity

Tripura University in collaboration with Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team (AMURT) has taken mass tree plantation Drive in the University premised on 25th July last. Prof. Ganga Prasad Prasain, Vice-chancellor, Dr. Deepak Sharma, Registrar of Tripura University, Dr. Vishwajit Bhowmik, Regional Director, IGNOU, Agartala and Acharya Divyachetananada Avadhuta, Central AMURT Secretary along with other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

The University appreciated the efforts made by AMURT towards bringing the ecological balance by planting more and more tree in the University premises. Acharya Divyachetananada Avadhuta thanked the University authority for collaborating with AMURT for the noble cause of the society.

Prof. Prasain stated that the University is committed to establish the green and pollution free premises. He further stated that the University motivated the students to plant more and more tree in and around the campus. He said that the University is committed to follow the guidelines of one student one tree.

Dr. Deepak Sharma, Registrar appealed to the employees and the students of the University to plant more and more trees in this rainy season. He said that trees preserved water near its roots and release when requires specially in the dry or hot seasons. He further added that if this wanton destruction of trees is not stopped, then in the near future, the rainfall will drastically decrease and the frequency and intensity of floods will increase. Consequently, lush, green vegetation will be transformed into arid deserts.
