Agartala, Dec 4: Incidents of robbery continue to rise in the capital, with most of the offenders escaping arrest. However, police have achieved success in a recent case of snatching reported from Dhaleshwar.
On Monday, miscreants on a bike snatched a gold chain from one Sushil Chandra Saha in the Dhaleshwar area. Following the incident, Saha lodged a written complaint at East Agartala Police Station.
Acting on the complaint, police examined CCTV footage from the area and identified the accused. Subsequently, two youths were arrested in connection with the crime.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, East Agartala Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Subrata Debnath said that the arrested individuals are carpenters by profession. They have been identified as Ripon Biswas and Bijoy Sarkar, both residents of Aralia. They confessed to their involvement in the snatching.
Police have initiated further investigation into the case.
