Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman arrives in Tripura

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has arrived at Agartala this afternoon on a two-day tour visit to Tripura.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was welcomed at the Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) airport by the chief minister Dr. Manik Saha, BJP State President Rajib Bhattacharjee.

According to an official statement, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled for a two-day trip to Assam and Tripura starting Friday.

In Guwahati, she will attend an investiture ceremony where 29 officers and staff of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) will be honored with the Presidential Award of Appreciation Certificate for their exceptional service, as announced on this year’s independence day.

The recipients were chosen based on their outstanding achievements in their respective areas of service throughout the years.
The release stated, “This year’s awardees consist of officers from all service cadres who have consistently demonstrated exceptional performance in various tasks, such as preventing smuggling, detecting tax evasion, addressing trade-based money laundering and foreign exchange violations, contributing to tax policy formulation, revenue generation, business process automation, capacity building, and training.”

The event will be graced by the presence of Union Minister of State for Finance, Pankaj Chaudhary, Revenue Secretary Sanjay Malhotra, and CBIC Chairman Vivek Johri.


Following the ceremony, the Union ministers will proceed to Tripura to participate in the inauguration of the GST Bhavan in Agartala.

The next day, they will visit the Integrated Check Posts at Srimantpur in Tripura, as mentioned in the release.
