The long-standing internal conflict between the Jana Sanghati Samiti ( JSS ) and the United People’s Democratic Front ( UPDF ), active in the Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bangladesh , has become a new cause of concern for security circles .
Although this conflict is mainly an internal matter of Bangladesh , discussions have started in various circles on border security as the Chittagong Hill Tracts shares a vast hilly and forested border with Tripura , India . According to security experts , the risk of isolated infiltration , sheltering or illegal movement cannot be completely ruled out by exploiting the geographical features of the border .
That is why the concerned circles claim that surveillance , intelligence activities and coordination of various security agencies in the border area have been further strengthened . There is an international border between Tripura and Bangladesh that is about 856 kilometers long .
