Kolkata, June 2: The West Bengal government expanded its Council of Ministers on Tuesday with the induction of 35 new ministers at a swearing-in ceremony held at Lok Bhavan in Kolkata.

Governor RN Ravi administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly inducted ministers in the presence of Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, senior government officials, and political leaders.

The cabinet expansion saw the inclusion of representatives from different parts of the state, combining experienced legislators with several first-time ministers. The move is expected to strengthen the government’s administrative structure and ensure wider regional representation in the state cabinet.

Among those who took oath as ministers were Swapan Dasgupta, Arjun Singh, Tapas Roy, Shankar Ghosh, and several other legislators.

Official sources said the allocation of portfolios among the newly inducted ministers will be announced shortly. The expansion is being viewed as a significant step in the government’s efforts to enhance governance and accelerate developmental initiatives across West Bengal.

The ceremony witnessed the presence of senior leaders and party functionaries, marking an important political event in the state.
