In West Bengal, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has strongly condemned the alleged attack on journalists during a rally organised by several Left organisations at Central Kolkata yesterday in protest against the NEET question leak. He said those responsible would face strict action.
Making a statement in the State Assembly today, the Chief Minister said seven cases have already been registered in connection with the incident and around seventy people have been identified. He said the accused have been booked under the state’s newly enforced law.
The West Bengal Public Safety and Control of Anti-Social Activities Act, 2026. Mr. Adhikari alleged that there was a pre-planned attempt to create unrest under the guise of the protest and claimed that efforts were made to provoke the police into using force.
