Agartala, July 24: An elderly widow from the Kanchanmala Lakshmicharda area under Sadar subdivision has appealed to the state government for immediate assistance after allegedly failing to receive a widow’s pension despite applying three times.
Jhulan Bhowmik, wife of the late Jitendra Bhowmik, has been living in severe financial hardship since her husband’s death nearly 10 years ago. She currently resides with her only son, who is reportedly suffering from a serious illness.
Due to her advanced age, Jhulan Bhowmik is unable to work, leaving the family with no stable source of income. She claims to have submitted multiple applications for the widow’s allowance, but the benefit has yet to be sanctioned.
Expressing her distress, the elderly woman has appealed to the state government and the concerned authorities to approve her widow’s pension at the earliest so that she can meet her basic needs and support her ailing son.
