Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy inaugurated the “Nesha Mukt Bharat Ke Liye Khelo Tripura” program at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan on Saturday afternoon.

While inaugurating the program, Minister Roy said, “The drive to build a drug-free Tripura should take the form of a public movement.

Apart from freeing the drug addicts from the grip of addiction, we must also keep a watchful eye so that the youth does not get addicted to drugs. Everyone should be more aware about the ill effects of addiction.”

He added, “A national plan called Nesha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan has been adopted to create healthy lifestyle habits and drug free India. With the aim of creating a drug free India, awareness programs are undertaken in higher education institutions, university campuses, schools etc.”

Minister Roy further said, “The Youth Affairs and Sports Department of Tripura has started working in collaboration with an NGO called ‘Swaniti Initiative’. This voluntary organization has started the work of rehabilitating drug addicts through volleyball training in every corner of the state.”

He added, “90 ex-volleyball players from the state were selected as coaches and a workshop was organized with them at NSRCC. They will work to liberate drug addicts across the state by playing volleyball.”

Inaugurating the event, the Youth Affairs and Sports Minister said that the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan has been successful because the countrymen have accepted it wholeheartedly.
