In a late-night operation, police from the Bishalgarh Police Station detained a young man for allegedly possessing illegal arms and contraband.

The accused has been identified as Karnajit Das, son of Samir Das, a resident of Champamura Deshbandhu Colony under the jurisdiction of Bishalgarh Police Station.

Acting on a tip-off from a confidential source, police apprehended the accused at around 11:30 PM on Monday. During the operation, a pistol, 10 rounds of live ammunition, and suspected cannabis were reportedly recovered from his possession.

A large contingent of police personnel was deployed to carry out the operation smoothly. Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the source of the weapon and the intended use. Further legal action is being taken as per law, police officials said.
