Kailashahar: A young man was found in a pool after being allegedly assaulted during a robbery attempt late on Saturday night. The victim, identified as Bilal Ahmed, is undergoing treatment at Unakoti District Hospital, where doctors have described his condition as critical.

According to reports, Bilal was returning home after withdrawing money from an ATM when he was stopped in front of the Fire Service office by Maqddus Ali, who allegedly demanded money from him. When Bilal refused, the accused struck him on the head with an iron rod, leaving him seriously injured. The attacker then fled with the cash the victim had with him.

Locals rushed Bilal to the hospital after rescuing him from the spot. His brother, Muktar Ahmed, has alleged that the incident was a pre-planned attack and has lodged a complaint against the accused at Kailashahar Police Station.

Police confirmed that a case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
