A large section of the unemployed 10323 teachers started the hunger strike for an indefinite period from Thursday demanding to get back their jobs.

Currently, the hunger strike program is in the temporary stage in the area adjacent to Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan.

The sacked teachers spoke with the media and said that they are not under the Supreme Court’s club judgment according to the RTI, yet they were sacked by the state government.
They added that even after doing 7-10 years of work, now they are jobless. As there is no private sector or big industry in Tripura and around 70% of people are lower middle class, government job is the only option.

Sacked teachers further said their demand to the present government is that they must consider the Supreme Court’s RTI replay and allow them to join their schools and job.
