16,988 cases will be taken up for settlement in the Lok Adalat. Jhuma Datta Chowdhury, member secretary of the State Law Service Authority, said this at a press conference at the Agartala court premises on Wednesday.
She also said, “On December 9, apart from the Tripura High Court, the benches of the Lok Adalat will sit in all the district and subdivisional court premises.
A total of 67 benches will sit in one day.”
Jhuma Datta Chowdhury further said, “5,227 cases related to bank loan repayment, 406 motor accident compensation cases, 04 cases related to consumer court, 10,890 cases of negotiable criminal disputes, 232 cases of matrimonial disputes, 85 other civil cases, 16 cases related to employee matters and 128 cases related to bounce of checks were filed in the Lok Adalat.”
She said that from last December 4, the process of preliminary understanding of Lok Adalat related cases has started.
