Prime Minister Narendra Modi is coming to Agartala on a one-day visit to the state on December 18. He will land at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport at 2:25 PM in a special Air Force aircraft. At 2:45 PM, the Prime Minister will address the public meeting organized at Swami Vivekananda Stadium and will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones of several projects.
The Prime Minister will then leave Agartala at 5:15 PM after a meeting at State Guest House. District Magistrate Devpriya Bardhan informed this in a press conference held at the conference hall of West Tripura District Magistrate’s office yesterday.
DM informed that special trains and buses have been arranged to go to Swami Vivekananda Stadium from all over the state. On the road from Agartala Airport to Swami Vivekananda Stadium, 16 cultural troupes will perform traditional cultural items of the state to welcome the Prime Minister.
West Tripura District Superintendent of Police Shankar Debnath said in a press conference that extensive security measures have been taken on the occasion of the Prime Minister’s visit to the state. Surveillance has been tightened at the India-Bangladesh border. The SP requested all those who come to Swami Vivekananda Stadium not to bring umbrellas, water bottles, bags.
He said that there will be facilities for drinking water, temporary toilets and medical team in the field. The public will be allowed to enter the grounds after 11 am. CCTV cameras have been installed at Swami Vivekananda Stadium. The traffic arrangement in Agartala during Prime Minister’s visit will be informed later. Necessary measures will be taken so that there is no difficulty in going to hospital, airport or any other place if necessary.
