Agartala, May 4: Under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Mufti Bijli Yojana, the government has set a target to install solar power plants in 50,000 consumer homes across the state by March 2027. So far, 13,536 people have registered online to avail the benefits of this scheme, with solar power projects already installed in 266 homes.
This information was shared by Power Minister Ratanlal Nath at a press conference held at his office in the State Secretariat today. During the briefing, the Power Minister highlighted various plans and initiatives being undertaken by the government in the power sector.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Nath said, “Modern living is impossible without electricity. Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi has prioritized the development of the power sector, with a special focus on renewable energy for a sustainable future.” He informed that the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Mufti Bijli Yojana has been launched to encourage the use of solar power in households, and the state government is actively implementing the scheme.
According to the Minister, 184 consumers in the state have so far received government subsidies under this project. Additionally, loans amounting to 1 crore 75 lakh 66 thousand have been sanctioned by banks for setting up solar plants. Through this initiative, consumers can generate electricity at home, reduce their electricity bills, and earn additional income by supplying surplus electricity to the power grid through an off-grid system.
Minister Nath also mentioned that 70 consumers have already earned income from the electricity generated by their solar systems.
Concluding his address, Power Minister Ratanlal Nath urged all eligible consumers to take advantage of this beneficial scheme for a greener, self-reliant, and sustainable future.
