Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratanlal Nath officially inaugurated the 6-day long Bishalgarh Baisakhi Mela at the Muktamanch of Bishalgarh New Market premises on Monday evening.

While inaugurating the fair, he said, “The art and culture of every community in the state must be protected at any cost. Baisakhi fair is part of our art and culture, which is the bearer and transporter of Indian heritage. The present government of the state is determined to keep this culture alive.”

Minister Nath further said, “Swami Vivekananda said that modernity is necessary, but not forgetting one’s traditional culture. The present government of the state has taken various initiatives to highlight our traditional culture and involve the new generation more in it. Events like Borshoboron and the Boishakhi fair are part of such initiatives.”

He said that the more the current generation can be included in this initiative, the more the society will benefit. Thus, the youth can be kept away from the addiction.
