Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma to visit Tripura Today amid key political developments ahead of ADC elections.

Agartala, Jan 15: Assam Chief Minister and North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) Chairman Himanta Biswa Sarma is arriving in the state today on a visit, sparking considerable political speculation.

According to sources, Sarma is scheduled to offer prayers at the Mata Tripura Sundari temple in Udaipur on Thursday. Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha is expected to accompany him during the visit.

Sarma will also stay overnight at the Circuit House. The visit assumes significance in the wake of recent political developments within NEDA. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma and Tripura’s BJP ally Tipra Motha have recently distanced themselves from the alliance.

Notably, a public meeting of the new alliance was recently held in Agartala.
Meanwhile, Tipra Motha has announced that it will contest the forthcoming Autonomous District Council (ADC) elections independently, adding further political importance to Himanta Biswa Sarma’s visit to the state.
