In Assam, the flood situation has improved as floodwaters have receded in most of the affected areas. More than 37,000 people are currently taking shelter in 109 relief camps set up across the worst-affected districts of Sivasagar, Golaghat, Jorhat and Charaideo. Sivasagar alone has 66 relief camps housing over 30,000 people.
Government agencies are working on a mission mode to distribute relief materials among the affected people in these districts. Non-governmental organisations and members of the public from across the state are also extending support by distributing relief items in the affected villages.
