The secretary of Bharat Ratna Sangha club was shot dead inside his car near a high-security zone at Shalbagan on the outskirts of Agartala city on Tuesday evening, said the police.
Durga Prasanna Deb, alias Viki Deb, was the secretary of Bharat Ratna Sangha.
Reportedly, he was also an active Karyakarta of ruling BJP.
The deceased’s wife alleged that Vicky had received a call from one Biman Das, who had sent a car to pick him up at the residence.
She also named four other persons- Raju Barman, Rajesh Barman, Debabrata Barman and Santosh in the shootout incident. Before death, Vicky had informed his wife that he was going to Biman Das’s residence.
