New Delhi: A high-level meeting to discuss a proposed electoral understanding between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Tipra Motha Party (TMP) ahead of the upcoming TTAADC Village Committee elections is scheduled to take place in New Delhi on Friday.

The meeting is expected to be chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and attended by Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, TMP founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, Minister of State Brishaketu Debbarma, and TMP MLA Ranjit Debbarma.

Tripura Lok Sabha MP and BJP National General Secretary Biplab Kumar Deb is also expected to participate in the discussions.

According to sources, the meeting will primarily focus on the proposed BJP–TMP electoral alliance and the modalities of seat-sharing and coordination for the TTAADC Village Committee elections, which are scheduled to be held on September 28.

The proposed understanding could have significant political implications in Tripura, particularly in the tribal areas under the jurisdiction of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).
