The dutiful endeavors through special “Anti-Smuggling Drives” are being made by the troops of BSF Tripura particularly to curb the trans-border smuggling of narcotics & contrabands in the State of Tripura. In series of Operations, Vigilant Bordermen successfully seized 865.5 Kgs Ganja, 2,060 Nos Yaba Tablets, 255 Btls of Phensedyl / Eskuf Syrup, besides assorted contraband articles having combined value of Rs. 1,42,44,986/-, during different operations.
In one such operation on 27th March 2022, acting on specific intelligence input, troops of Border Out Post Ashabari along with BSF Canine Reena (Narcotic Expert), Ex-150 Bn BSF, Gokulnagar along with officials of DRI Agartala and local police, dug-out 21 Nos plastic drums containing “810 Kgs Dry Ganja worth Rs. 1,21,50,000/-” which were clandestinely stocked & buried underneath the ground in the forest area adjoining to Village- Dhupuriyaband, Ward No. 06, PS- Kalamchoura, Distt- Sepahijala, Tripura. The seized Ganja was handed over to DRI officials on the spot for further legal action under NDPS Act.
In another operation on the intervening night of 27/28 March 2022, BSF troops of Border Out Post Mohanpur, Ex-120 Bn BSF, Gokulnagar also thwarted the smuggling attempt and seized “2,060 Nos Yaba Tablets worth Rs. 10,30,000/-”. The seized narcotics are being handed over to Police Station- Sidhai, Sub Div- Mohanpur, Distt- Tripura West for further course of action.
Further, on 27 March 2022, BSF troops of Border Out Post Batadola, Ex-150 Bn BSF, Gokulnagar also foiled a smuggling bid and seized “563 Nos Sarees worth Rs. 6,23,520/-”. The seized articles are being handed over to Customs- Sonamura, Sub Div- Sonamura, Distt- Sepahijala for further course of action.
BSF is fully committed to eradicate the menace of drugs / narcotics in the State of Tripura and also regularly seizing various other contraband articles by carrying out different operations along the Indo-Bangladesh International Border, besides safeguarding the extreme territorial limits of the country in Tripura.
