The Central Government has revised the import duty on gold and other precious metals, with the new rates coming into effect from Tuesday.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance, gold and silver findings will now attract a 5 percent import duty, while platinum findings will face a 5.4 percent duty. In addition, the import duty on precious metal spent catalysts has been fixed at 4.35 percent, subject to compliance with prescribed conditions.
The move is expected to impact the precious metals trade and related industries across the country.
