The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said, conditions are becoming favourable for the advance of the southwest monsoon likely over parts of south Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea and Andaman and Nicobar Islands towards the end of this week.
The Weather Agency said that the low-pressure area over Southwest Bay of Bengal lay over the same region yesterday, with the associated cyclonic circulation extending upto 4.5 kilometres above mean sea level.
IMD said it is likely to become more marked during the next 24 hours.
According to the Met Department, the Southwest monsoon normally sets in over Kerala around the 1st of June every year.
