CM Biplab Kumar Deb wants abolition of quota in Agar export

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb demanded abolition of the existing ‘quota system’ for Agar export and constitute a National Board for Agar.

Instead of the existing system, Deb proposed the Center constitute a national board dedicated to Agarwood so that the cultivation of Agar could be promoted on a large scale.

According to the Chief Minister Biplab Kumar De, Agar cultivation is highly profitable for the North East.

Deb said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi allowed to export 25,000 MT Agar and Agar cultivation would bring huge financial benefits to the Northeast since the soil and climate here are suitable for agar cultivation.
