Chief Minister Manik Saha on Monday announced an additional 5 percent Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees during the ongoing Budget Session of the Tripura Legislative Assembly.

According to the Chief Minister, the revised DA will come into effect from April 1. He also stated that the state government will incur an additional annual expenditure of around ₹500 crore due to the increase.

Despite the announcement, a significant gap in DA between central government employees and Tripura state government employees continues to remain. With this latest hike, the DA gap still stands at approximately 17 percent.

Following the announcement, questions have once again been raised among state government employees regarding when the remaining due DA will be cleared.
