Congress paid tribute to former PM Rajiv Gandhi on his death anniversary

Along with the Nation Tripura Congress also remembered Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in his Death anniversary.

Tripura State Congress President Pijush Biswas along with other Congress leaders paid tribute to the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his death anniversary.

A Bharat Ratna recipient, Gandhi was the sixth prime minister of the country. He took charge of the office in 1984 following the assassination of his mother Indira Gandhi and became the youngest ever to serve the office. He was 40-year-old at that time.

Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated on 21 May 1991 using RDX explosives by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam’s Thenmozhi Rajaratnam while the politician was campaigning for the Sriperumbudur Lok Sabha Congress candidate.

This year, the Congress party and all its state units and frontal organisations to observe the death anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi as the day of “Seva and Sadbhavna” for the people who are grappling with Covid-19 pandemic.
