Agartala, February 10: Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Ashish Kumar Saha on Monday announced that the party will submit a deputation to the Governor on February 16 demanding the restoration of MGNREGA in the state.

A Lok Bhavan drive will also be organized on the same day as part of the protest programme.
Addressing a press conference at the Pradesh Congress Bhavan, Saha alleged that people’s rights have been curtailed under the BJP-led government.

He claimed that during the UPA regime, various measures were taken to safeguard and ensure the rights of the common people, including proper implementation of welfare schemes like MGNREGA.

Party spokesperson Prabir Chakraborty, who was also present at the press meet, highlighted several issues concerning governance and public welfare. He stated that the Congress party is extending moral support to the proposed strike scheduled for February 12.

Saha further asserted that the Congress is fully prepared to contest the upcoming Dharmanagar by-election and expressed confidence in the party’s organisational strength in the constituency.
