CPI(M) releases manifesto, promises 2.5 lakh new jobs; Free Power

Narayan Kar, the Left Front convener of Tripura outlined highlighted some key promises in the Left Front manifesto released in Agartala on Friday.

The manifesto included 81 promises in total.
Narayan Kar said that Left Front would give at least 2.5 lakh jobs in government, semi-government and private sectors in the next five years.

He added that free electricity will be given for up to 50 units per family and put a ban on the privatisation of government-run educational institutions and allot lands to landless people.

Kar said that Left Front would ensure jobs for contractual employees fired during the BJP regime as well as jobs for 10,323 retrenched school teachers.

He added, “We shall work to amend the Constitution to provide maximum economic and political autonomy to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) without disturbing the territory of the State”.

Other promises include the restoration of general law-and-order along with democratic, religious and political rights that is curbed under the BJP regime.

Besides, assured 200 days of work under MGNREGA and a war on drugs are also included.

Meanwhile, State secretary of CPIM Jitendra Chowdhury said the Left Front and Congress will soon announce a common minimum programme.
