Agartala, May 12: Leader of the Opposition on Monday raised concerns over the prevailing law and order situation in the state and alleged that democratic rights are being curtailed.
In a message posted on social media, Chaudhury strongly criticised incidents of alleged misconduct reported from different parts of the capital, including areas under Amtali Police Station and Ramnagar Outpost. He claimed that the freedom of expression of common people is gradually being restricted and opposition voices are being silenced through intimidation.
The Opposition leader stated that curbing people’s right to speak freely in a democratic environment is a matter of serious concern. Drawing the attention of Home Minister and Chief Minister , he said questions are being raised among the public regarding the role of the administration.
Chaudhury further remarked that suppressing opposition voices through undemocratic means can never be acceptable. His comments have triggered fresh political discussions across the state.
