Sonamura, August 18: Medical services at the Sonamura Social Health Center came to a standstill for nearly two hours on Sunday after the emergency department was left without a doctor. The situation sparked anger among patients and their families, who were left waiting without treatment.
According to reports, a female doctor who had been on duty since Saturday afternoon suddenly fell ill around 10:30 a.m. As no replacement could immediately arrive from the Jumerdhepa Primary Health Center, medical services were suspended.
In an effort to manage the crisis, Sonamura Subdivision Health Officer Dr. Rajesh Das rushed to the health center and personally began attending to patients. Speaking to the media, Dr. Das said roster duty arrangements are being made by drawing doctors from various hospitals under the subdivision to ensure that such service disruptions are avoided in the future.
The incident highlighted the ongoing shortage of doctors at the Sonamura Social Health Center, which continues to affect healthcare services for local residents.
