Just when it seemed Mohun Bagan’s veterans would clinch victory with a 1-0 lead from a penalty, East Bengal’s formers turned the game around. In a dramatic sudden-death finish, the Red-Yellows secured victory, once again proving their supremacy.
Alvito D’Cunha played a pivotal role and was adjudged the best player of the match. However, East Bengal goalkeeper Subhashish Choudhury—who made crucial saves—and Soumik Dey, who netted the winning goal.
