The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted simultaneous raids at seven locations across Tripura on Friday, targeting individuals suspected of involvement in drug trafficking and distribution networks. Sources within the Tripura State Administration revealed that the central agency acted upon evidence pointing to financial trails linked to the illegal drug trade.
The operation, launched early in the morning, was carried out under tight security, with over 250 CRPF personnel ensuring smooth execution of searches and confiscations. Key urban areas such as Agartala, Nandan Nagar, and the vicinity of MBB Airport—known hotspots for drug trafficking—were reportedly among the locations under scrutiny.
As part of a broader investigation into financial crimes and the drug trade, ED officials are examining seized documents, digital records, and other materials to uncover connections between traffickers and financial offenders.
The raids reflect growing concerns over Tripura’s emergence as a transit hub for illegal drugs moving between neighboring states and other parts of India. The entire operation is being supervised by the state ED chief, but details on evidence recovered during the searches remain undisclosed.
