Agartala, Wednesday: Panic spread at the capital’s Dental College on Wednesday morning after an elevator malfunctioned and stopped midway, trapping three health workers and a hospital officer inside. As oxygen levels dropped, one nursing officer reportedly lost consciousness, creating a suffocating environment within the lift.

According to allegations, no elevator operator was present at the time of the incident, raising questions about the hospital administration’s negligence.

Fire service personnel rushed to the spot, broke open the elevator door, and successfully rescued the trapped individuals.

Witnesses and attendees expressed anger over the alleged lack of initiative by the hospital authorities during the crisis.

The affected nursing officer received first aid. Meanwhile, a demand has been raised for a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the sudden elevator failure and to prevent such incidents in the future.
