The ballot boxes and EVMs used in Tripura assembly elections have been kept with strict security arrangements in presence of representatives of all political parties.
Besides, the storage area is under CCTV surveillance.
While speaking to reporters, SDPO Sadar, Ajay Kumar Das said that all EVMs have been kept in Umamkanta Academy School under strict security.
He added, “A team of CRPF jawans have been deployed outside and inside the strong rooms. The strong rooms are being monitored through uninterrupted CCTV surveillance.”SDPO Sadar further said that TSR and Tripura Police are maintaining three-tier security to the EVMs.
He added that concerned Police Stations are patrolling 24×7 to check and prevent unwanted representatives of political parties.
Notably, the Election Commission informed that the Assembly elections in Tripura saw around 88% votes, which were held on February 16 and through postal ballots.
The fate of the 259 candidates of 60 Assembly seats are sealed in the ballot boxes. The Election Commission stated that in the current election, there were over 28.14 lakh registered voters among which 14,15,233 are men, 13,99,289 are women and 62 are third gender.
Around 94,815 voters belong to the 18-19 years age group, while 6,21,505 belong in 22-29 age group. Meanwhile, the 40-59 age group has the highest number of voters at 9,81,089.
