On November 17, 2013, Agartala-Akhaura, the first land port in the North-Eastern region and India’s second land port, started with neighboring Bangladesh.
It has completed 10 years on Friday and entered 11 years. On the occasion of the 10th anniversary, a short ceremony was organized at Akhaura Land Port. Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumdar was present as the chief guest on this occasion. MLA Surjit Dutta was present as special guest.

Mayor of the Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder Friday launched the first-ever shuttle service from the Akhaura Integrated Check Post (ICP) to Maharaja Bir Bikram airport for tourists coming from Bangladesh.
A blood donation camp was organised as a part of the event by the BSF.
