Fisheries given priority in development of rural economy: Cooperatives Minister

Fisheries has been given priority in the development of rural economy in the state.

The development of rural areas of the state is accelerating as agriculture and agro-allied sectors are given priority. Cooperatives Minister Shuklacharan Noatia said this while inaugurating the state-wide International Fisheries Day celebrations at Mukut Auditorium in Shantirbazar today.

He said on the occasion that various programs have been taken to increase fish production in the state. These programs are playing a role in strengthening the economy of the state besides making fishermen self-reliant. Chairperson of South Tripura Zilla Parishad Kakali Das Dutta, MLA Swapna Majumdar, Chairperson of Shantirbazar Pur Parishad Swapna Vaidya, Chairman of Bakafa Panchayat Samiti Sridam Das and others were present in the event.
