Santirbazar, Jan 12: A joining ceremony was held on Sunday at Ramprasad Para under the Santirbazar Assembly constituency, organized by the local BJP unit ahead of the upcoming ADC elections. The programme took place in areas under booth numbers 32 and 47 of the 36 Santirbazar Mandal.
During the meeting, a significant split was witnessed in the opposition camp as 64 voters from 20 families left the Tipra Motha party and formally joined the BJP. Santirbazar MLA Pramod Riang welcomed the new entrants by handing over the party flag.
Addressing the gathering, Riang alleged that the Tipra Motha party had failed to undertake any development in the ADC areas over the past five years. He claimed that whatever development had taken place was funded by the state government. Expressing confidence, the MLA said that the BJP would secure a resounding victory in the forthcoming ADC elections.
