Heavy Rain Triggers Flooding in Longtharai Valley; 1,252 Shifted to Relief Camps

Longtharai Valley, July 9: Incessant heavy rainfall has inundated vast low-lying areas, including Manughat and ChawManu, in Longtharai Valley subdivision, affecting normal life and forcing many residents to leave their homes.

According to the administration, floodwaters have entered several houses, prompting the opening of 15 relief camps across the subdivision. As of Wednesday evening, a total of 1,252 people had taken shelter in these camps.

Longtharai Valley Subdivision Magistrate Subrata Das said that the administration has been providing relief materials and emergency assistance to the affected people while closely monitoring the flood situation.

Meanwhile, MLA Shambhu Lal Chakma visited the flood-hit areas and relief camps to assess the situation. He interacted with the affected families and assured them of all possible support and assistance.

The administration has appealed to residents, particularly those living in low-lying areas, to remain alert and cooperate with the authorities as the heavy rainfall continues.
