Agartala, December 26: Based on a specific tip-off, police achieved a major success in an anti-narcotics operation carried out by the Airport Police Station, leading to the arrest of a drug peddler and the seizure of heroin and cash.
According to police sources, the operation was conducted in the Narsinghgarh Natun Palli area under the jurisdiction of the Airport Police Station. During the raid, police recovered 49.80 grams of heroin packed in four soap cases, along with cash amounting to ₹2,03,000.
One drug dealer, identified as Sanjit Debnath, was arrested at the spot. A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
The operation was led by SDPO NCC Subrata Barman along with the Officer-in-Charge of Airport Police Station, Abhijit Mondal. Police officials said that efforts are ongoing to trace the source of the seized heroin and identify its intended destination. They also added that such anti-narcotics drives will continue in the coming days.
Local residents have appreciated the police for the successful operation and their continued efforts to curb the drug menace.
