Pradeep K, an IAS officer currently serving as the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of Belonia Sub-division in Tripura’s South District, has been accused by his wife of alleged torture, abuse, and dowry demands.

The officer, however, has denied the accusations, claiming they are baseless and part of a pre-planned effort to tarnish his reputation.

M.J. Difi, who married Pradeep K in March 2022, shared her allegations with the media on Sunday. According to her, the couple lived together for only three months, during which his family repeatedly demanded dowry.

“My father provided as much as he could, even before the wedding, including purchasing a piece of land for them. But their demands kept growing. After December 2022, he cut off all communication with me. My parents tried to mediate and approached his family, but they refused to engage, insisting only on financial demands. Every time we attempted to reach him, he would delay by saying he needed more time,” Difi told reporters.
