The CPI(M) has re-elected Jitendra Chaudhury as the secretary of its Tripura unit, with a new 61-member state committee formed for the next three years. The decision was made at the party’s 24th state conference, which concluded on Friday.
Senior CPI(M) leader Pabitra Kar confirmed the development, stating that Chaudhury, who is also the leader of the opposition in the Tripura Assembly, was unanimously chosen for the position. The newly constituted state committee includes six women members.
The three-day state conference, which began on January 29, also featured a massive rally addressed by veteran party leader Prakash Karat and former chief minister Manik Sarkar. Speaking about his re-election, Chaudhury expressed gratitude to the party for its continued trust in him. He emphasized his commitment to strengthening the party and working towards restoring democracy and constitutional order in the state.
