In a move aimed at enhancing connectivity and easing travel for residents of Belonia, renowned journalist Pranab Sarkar has penned a letter to the Union Railway Minister, urging for the inclusion of a stoppage for the Kanchanjanga Express at the Belonia station.

Sarkar emphasized the strategic importance of Belonia, highlighting its growing population and the need for improved transportation facilities. He pointed out that the current lack of a direct train stoppage forces residents to travel to distant stations, causing inconvenience and additional travel expenses.

“Providing a stoppage for the Kanchanjanga Express in Belonia will significantly benefit the local population, fostering better connectivity and economic growth,” wrote Sarkar.

The Kanchanjanga Express, which currently runs between Sealdah and  Sabroom, serves as a crucial link for passengers traveling across various states. Adding a stop in Belonia would not only cater to the needs of the local community but also attract more passengers, potentially boosting the railway’s revenue.

As the appeal awaits a response from the Railway Ministry, the people of Belonia remain hopeful for a positive outcome that will bring them closer to the rest of the country.
