In a major crackdown against drug trafficking in Sabrum subdivision, police conducted a late-night raid in the Jagadish Chandrapara area of Sonaichhari under the Bankul outpost and recovered a large quantity of brown sugar and other narcotics.

According to police sources, the operation was carried out on Saturday night based on secret information. The raid targeted the residence of local resident Bimal Das, from where the narcotic substances were allegedly recovered.

Speaking to reporters on Sunday afternoon, Sabrum Police Station Officer-in-Charge Apu Das stated that complaints regarding illegal drug trading in the area had been surfacing for a long time. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the police finally launched the operation.

The raid was led jointly by OC Apu Das and HDPO Diptanu Biswas. Following the recovery, the police seized the narcotics and initiated a detailed investigation into the matter.

The incident has created widespread sensation across the area, while local residents have welcomed the police action against the growing drug menace.
